If so, you're an idiot. And you’re also a misinformed idiot. The Supreme Court has ruled several times in the past the the 2nd Amendment applies to individuals. The only time it didn’t was in a case where a bootlegger was accused of having an illegal, sawed-off shotgun. And even in that case, when it was argued before the Supreme Court, the criminal was in jail, and his side of the argument wasn’t even represented in the Supreme Court hearing.

If you really think the second amendment is not about individuals rights, but rather about collective rights, then do you feel the same about the rest of the Bill of Rights? Is the 1st Amendment then affirming the right of the Government and not of the People? What about the rest of the Amendments? Gee, I thought the Bill of Rights pertained to the rights of the people – you seem to think they pertain to the rights of the government.

Given your views, I’d suggest you go live Iran or North Korea - you'll be happier that way.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

It doesn't say “the right of the Militia to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed”, it says, “the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”.

If you want to remain unarmed, and incapable of protecting yourself or those you profess to care about from crime, fine. But stay away from my God-given rights that are affirmed by this Country's Constitution.

Sincerely,

John MohanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
